Indianapolis Housing Agency Announces Executive Staff Change

Insight Development Corporation President Joins Renew Indianapolis
Press Release: November 30, 2016

The Board of Directors of Renew Indianapolis has tapped Insight Development Corporation’s Bruce Baird to serve as executive director of Renew Indianapolis. Insight Development Corporation is the nonprofit development arm of the Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA) and works with state and local government, community organizations and private partners to develop affordable housing throughout the city. Additionally, Insight Development Corporation works alongside IHA to secure mixed-source financing to support the development, rehabilitation and operation of public and affordable housing.

"While we will miss our day to day interactions with Bruce as a part of the IHA team, his transition to Renew Indianapolis will provide us with a strong partner in our efforts to revitalize the housing landscape throughout the city," said IHA Executive Director Bud Myers. "Renew serves as the land bank for Indianapolis/Marion County and their commitment will not only benefit our residents but will strengthen our neighborhoods, eliminate blight and enhance the quality of life for our residents," he added.

The city of Indianapolis partners with Renew to acquire abandoned, tax delinquent and other problem properties, and make them available for redevelopment to non-profit/for-profit developers and the general public. As executive director, Baird and his team will return troubled properties to productive and economically viable use, eliminate public safety hot spots, and improve the quality of life in Indianapolis neighborhoods.

Indianapolis Housing Agency and the Insight Development Board of Directors will select a new President in the coming months. "We are committed to identifying a leader that will enhance our efforts in cultivating new funding sources and building relationships with new partners that will enhance our housing efforts," said Insight Board Chairman Roderick Morgan. "Indianapolis has made great strides in improving public and affordable housing choices throughout our city. There is much more we can do and the entire IHA and Insight team will leave no stone unturned to ensure we continue our progress."
